In the late 17th century Hampton Court had a garden of spectacular magnificence with a blend of medieval and classical features set at the heart of formal gardens. It is likely that Humphrey Repton had a hand in the removal of these formal gardens. Since 1996 the gardens have been redesigned and now include the organic ornamental kitchen garden, a medieval-style garden, a Dutch garden, Sunken Garden and yew maze. A Gothic Tower provides a lovely overview and there are further walks out into the landscape along the River Lugg.
